Chronic Disease

Our Chronic Disease unit brings in a wide range of specialists to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people prevent or treat chronic diseases. As the ATSI community has such high rates of chronic diseases it's important that they are given support and education.

Services that we provide are:

  • Diabetes Educator

  • Dietician

  • Podiatrists

  • I.D.E.A.S Van/ DRS Camera (for diabetes eye screening)

Our schedule for Visiting specialists are as follows:

Dietician - Every Wednesday

Diabetes Educator - Every second Wednesday

Endocrinologist - 3 monthly

Optometrist - Monthly

Healthy for Life program

Our healthy for life program provides a social environment for ATSI community to learn and combat chronic illnesses. These programs are:

  • Water Aerobics

  • Women's walking group

  • Healthy Eating and Nutrition Sessions

  • Bingobetes
